Good morning everyone. It is Amelia back with another Sitty Chatty. Today was supposed to be a walkie-talkie at Bassett Park, but I was really sick this weekend and barely got around to doing the editing and uploading of my Strange New Worlds commentary. And that one actually did pretty well. It got over forty views in a couple of days, so one of my better performing videos, if you can even call it a video.

It’s literally audio with a picture of my Buffalo office on it. But I was just not really feeling up to going anywhere yesterday, and today I feel really crappy too. My washer broke, and I’m really frustrated about that. I’m gonna get that replaced later this month.

I’m gonna have Emily help me with the plumbing situation first before I get a new one. I’m going back to Vermont sometime this month to deal with a couple of things anyway. So I can just do my laundry then. I’m not too worried about it. Let’s just say that other people in my life are dealing with much worse things than a broken washer.

So I decided, “Well, what the hell do I even wanna talk about today?” I decided to make this Gratefulness Volume Two. I wanted to make this kind of a regular thing where I talk about things I’m grateful for, but I’ve just been very overwhelmed with moving to a new city and figuring out everything for the house.

And now that the only thing I have to replace is the washer, literally the only thing, that’s pretty awesome. That’s incredible considering how old everything in this house. Heat works, dishwasher works, oven, microwave, dryer, all that works. Fridge That works too. So in the grand scheme of things, I’m doing extremely well and got a steal on this house.

Let’s just say that I’m extremely grateful I bought when I did, because the houses in this neighborhood usually go closer to four hundred, and I got this for more closer to three hundred. I think it’s just because it had to go up for sale really fast, apparently, and it even closed early, which tells you that they needed the money.

So I’m extremely grateful that I was able to get this house for such a good price. And this is definitely gonna be my forever home. I am very much sure of that. So what am I going to do with my life going forward? I actually wasn’t feeling very good Friday when I drove all the way down to Corry, Pennsylvania to see Brooke, and I’m glad I did.

She was shocked that I came. But I just wanted to see her. I needed some sort of normalcy in this huge shift in my life, and she was fantastic as usual. Corry’s a cute little town. Yeah, so things are actually going pretty well. The main issue I’m having is my health is just not great right now. My fatigue’s been really bad. I got this cold I can’t shake. Yeah, I’ve been sick basically since Saturday morning, and it’s now Tuesday, and I’m still sick.

So I could go to the park and do a walkie-talkie, but I can just do the same thing here, honestly. I could use the store, but I can just go tomorrow, or I can just get things from Walmart delivered. I’m not too worried about it. Yeah, I’m very grateful for the way things have worked out and grateful that I do still have Emily’s support in helping me with getting this house up to spec.

And the fact that it’s really just that one thing, I also need help putting a couple of things together. I have this bed frame that I bought the first week I was here, but it’s way too heavy for me to move. I can move it a piece at a time, but I’d rather have her help with it. It really is a two-person job, and they don’t tell you that.

And it’s funny because I bought the bed frame for my own room, but I decided I’ll just sleep with a mattress on the floor ’cause I prefer it that way anyway. I like just rolling out of bed literally. I just have this weird issue with falling out of bed, so I’ve done it for years. It’s part of the reason I have a queen-size mattress.

If I have anything smaller than, I literally fall out of bed at night if I have a bad night. I’m grateful that I’ve actually been able to get some sleep. I don’t have to worry about the heating situation, which is good. That’s all set. Yeah, this is one of those times where having good old just regular radiators beats having central air ’cause if it fails, it’s very easy to replace just a little natural gas boiler. Fingers crossed everything lasts me through the winter.

I don’t usually do well this time of year anyway. I’m always kinda sick in October, so I’m very grateful that I was able to get moved in and everything before my massive fatigue and yearly autumn malaise set in. I don’t have anything I have to do right now, which is good. So the only thing I just can’t do my laundry right now.

I hate laundromats. I would rather get one of those hand-crank washers rather than deal with a laundromat. I’m dead serious about that, ’cause my dryer works fine. But Emily’s willing to help me with that, so I’m not gonna worry about it.

It’s a very small thing compared to everything else that’s been going on this year and the last couple of years. But it’s nice. I’m finally getting a chance to relax, and this house has been great, and my room’s great, it’s just not everything is great with me.

I’m sort of recovering from a very long period of Being really hard on myself and yeah, I need to stop being so hard on myself. I need to be kinder to myself. I’ve been saying this for a while, but I’m not good at that. I wanna keep this one kinda short today, because I’m tired. I can edit this and get it up pretty quickly.

But yeah, I just am not feeling great we’ll just leave it at that. I’m still alive and I just need some time to recover and take care of myself and stop beating myself up over not having any energy. This weekend I did actually put together two floor lamps, so that’s good.

So I now have light at the opposite end of my room and in the guest room . I still have a bookshelf I have to put together, which I’m probably just gonna wait until Emily comes for that towards the end of the month, and she can help me with that, and the washer, and the bed frame. I think that’s good enough.

I have everything I could ever need for this house, which is great. I’m very grateful things have worked out, and I’m grateful for those of you that have been supporting the channel so far.

Sorry it’s been all over the place. I do wanna get a lot more topical. I do have essays that I want to talk about and riff about, and I have a couple of books like Depraved I wanna talk about. That book has some subject matter that really emotionally gets to me. But I’m grateful I now have time and the space to really get a new sense of where I wanna go in life. I hope that wherever you’re at right now, just be reminded that it could always be a lot worse than it is and that you probably have got it pretty good compared to most people.

Take care, everyone.
