Today’s pull from the Mystical Cats Tarot deck is the Eight of Sky (traditionally Eight of Swords).

The Cat’s advice from the guidebook: “The situation is not as dire as you think. When you feel trapped and out of choices, stay calm and look around for a simple solution. Keep still until your fear passes. Thrashing around will only make the situation worse. Don’t let small annoyances add to your worry. Use your intelligence to find a way out.”

I’m not feeling particularly trapped at the moment. I have things to do to occupy me today and I have a mall card show I’m checking out tomorrow and perhaps returning Sunday for day two. But I will say that my health this fall so far has been pretty terrible. Finally past the worst of my sinus infection and still recovering energy-wise, but I’m starting to get into a bit of a rhythm, especially with the top-of-the-hour monotasking strategy that Anna Howard (she of the Wild Geese podcast) has suggested recently in her journals that’s been working for her. While I haven’t gotten around to actually blocking time out, I think committing to a single task for one hour bears enough progress without making things look dire. But yeah, before I read about that, I was feeling like my creativity was at a dead end.

However, as I wrote in yesterday’s edition of this tarot card reading series, I do have a new fiction project I started in the middle of the night yesterday. It doesn’t help that I never got back to sleep and never had a proper nap. So I’m paying for being up too long yesterday now, although I’m not back to being sick, so that’s a plus. Still, while this card doesn’t seem to be super applicable to me in the very moment, I have felt this way countless times over the past few years. It’s really good advice to keep in mind generally speaking.

And oh, small annoyances DEFINITELY add to my worry. That’s something I need to actively work on.
